Date change for May 2014 Membership Meeting

Due to the Memorial Day holiday falling on the night of our regularly scheduled memebrship meeting, May's meeting has been moved up to Monday, May 19, 2014 @ 6pm.
In addition, at this meeting, you will have a chance to enroll in the Dental Plan if you haven't already done so. There will be representatives from the plan administrator at the meeting to assist you with your enrollment.
There will be a postcard mailed to each member as a reminder that this will be a nomination meeting for the upcoming June election.

Enrollments received before March 15th will be effective April 1st, 2014

Enrollement Extended! HealthPlex dental insurance being offered to 2790 members

Applications will now be accepted up until July 1st, 2014

 

By now, eligible members should have all recieved their enrollment package. If you did not receive one or have misplaced it, you can find the package attached below.

 

The initial Enrollment peroid began on March 1st and will continue through May 15th, 2014. If your form is received after the 15th of the month, your coverage will become effective the 1st of the second month. 

If you enroll by May 15th, there will be NO WAITING period for all covered services. If you do not enroll during the initial enrollment period and choose to enroll at a later date, you will have a waiting period of one year for all covered services.

Jacob Javits Convention Center Apprentice List

The Job Referral Office has established a separate list for 1st and 2nd year apprentices who wish to apply for employment at the Jacob Javits Convention Center (“Javits Center”).  All 1st and 2nd year apprentices are eligible to place their name on the list. 1st and 2nd year apprentices who place their names on the list will be eligible to complete an application for employment that will be forwarded by the District Council to the Javits Center.  The Javits Center will determine how many applicants it wishes to interview and whether to extend offers of employment.   All 1st and 2nd year apprentices wishing to place their names on this list should call the Out of Work List department at (212) 366-3330.  This list is ONLY to receive an application and a possible interview for employment at the Javits Center.

Application Process: Whenever the Javits Center requests applications, the Job Referral Office will contact 1st and 2nd year apprentices according to their position on the Javits Center list and give them the opportunity to come to the District Council to complete an application.

  1. 1.       If an apprentice declines the opportunity for any reason, his/her name will be removed from the list.  An apprentice who declines the opportunity may contact the Job Referral Office to have their name again added to the list to be considered for future opportunities.

 

  1. 2.       Apprentices who wish to complete an application for submission by the District Council to the Javits Center will be advised as follows:

 

  1. a.       They must come to the District Council at a scheduled date and time to complete an application
  2. b.      If they do not come within that time they will no longer be eligible and another person will be offered the opportunity in their place
  3. c.       The District Council will transmit completed applications to the Javits Center
  4. d.      Completing an application will not be counted as a referral for purposes of their eligibility to be on the Out of Work List.
  5. e.      The apprentice will be contacted by the Javits Center for an interview
  6. f.        They will be contacted by the Javits Center when work is available
  7. g.       Per the Out of Work List Rules, if they go to work at the Javits Center, they must inform the Job Referral Office and take their name off of the Out of Work List.

 

  1. 2.       Apprentices who complete applications that are forwarded to the Javits Center, or who do not come to the District Council to complete an application within the time period required, will have their names removed from the Javits Center list.

 

  1. 3.       The District Council Human Resources Director will oversee the application completion and forwarding process.  The Job Referral Office and the Human Resources Director or his/her designee will coordinate on as needed regarding apprentices expected to complete applications and those who actually do so.

Javits Center accepting applications for upcoming auto show!

The Javits Center will be accepting Journeymen applications on Friday, March 21st from 2PM- 5PM and Saturday, March 22nd from 9AM- 5PM for the 2014 Auto Show. 

You must bring a valid state ID, social security card for payroll purposes and an up to date union card. Applicants please enter the Javits Center through the employee entrance at West 34th Street and 12th Avenue.
